Jennifer M. Smith, J.D.
Title IX Coordinator
As the Title IX Coordinator, Jennifer Smith is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and coordination of the reporting and grievance processes; training; sexual violence awareness and prevention campaigns; climate surveys; and gender equity in academic, athletic, and employment programs.
Prior to joining Texas A&M University, Ms. Smith served as the Disability Officer for the City of Chicago where she conducted investigations into allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation; developed and implemented a disability and leave management program for the Department of Human Resources; authored new policies for the city; and advocated for those with disabilities through education, coaching, and problem solving. Additionally, she previously investigated Title IX allegations as the Equal Opportunity Advisor for the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, owned a small law firm for 15 years, and worked part-time as the Attorney for Students at UTMB.
Ms. Smith has a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Baylor Law School, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston, and a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing from Baylor University.
