Clery Action Reporting Committee

Charge/Purpose:

Strengthen compliance with the Clery Act and related provisions of the Higher Education Opportunity Act.  These laws require providing accurate, complete, and timely information for campus crime and security information and fire safety. Committee goals include expanding communication and coordinating requirements, gathering and reporting information, and supporting training to mitigate compliance risks.

This Committee was established to promote university-wide responsibility in complying with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act; 20 U.S.C., Section 1092[f], as amended. The full committee meets two to three times a year or as needed. Also, subgroups may meet periodically.   Coordination and communication among campuses and locations is ongoing.

Clery Act Operations Sub-Committee:

The Clery Compliance Committee also has an Operations Sub-Committee that meets as needed
to discuss specific compliance issues.  For example, near the end of the reporting deadline, a
meeting is held to discuss status for timely issuance of the Annual Security Reports and Fire
Safety Reports.  The discussion includes federal and internal deadlines, statistical disclosures,
publishing reports on the TAMU website, distributing notices of availability, and submitting
statistics to the Department of Education.
